MicroSong

MicroSong is a True Type font that can be used for describing melodies in a very, very compressed manner. It was designed by Sven Trebard for use in an appendix to a songbook he was editing. It is free to copy and use.

Download and install the font microsong.ttf. The size is about 15KB, i.e. not very large.

You can add MicroSong to your website by adding <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://wiz.se/doc/microsong/microsong.css">.
Then add MicroSong to your CSS, e.g. .song { font-family: MicroSong; font-size: 32pt }

Writing the notes is fairly straightforward.
The letter h is the prime note as well as the middle note (C in C major or C minor, depending on the scale).
Going left on the keyboard means going up in the scale. After a comes p. Going right on the keyboard means going down in the scale. After l comes z. Uppercase letters are long notes, lowercase are short.
